Key Projects
SIA Consultant shall be appointed if proposed projects meet the requirement stipulated under
- Act 172 Section 20B, SIA Category 1
- Act 172 Subsection 22(2A), SIA Category 2
- Significant impacts projects upon the consultation of the Local Council &PLANMsia, SIA Category 3
refer to ‘Manual Penyediaan Laporan Penilaian Impak Sosial (SIA) Bagi Projek Pembangunan (Edisi Ke-2)’
The types of projects that require SIA approval prior to their implementation including coastal reclamation, port and transportation facilities, power station, dam, toxic waste disposal site, national infrastructure development, new township > 100 hectares/ 10,000 population, hill slope development and etc (depending on the development acreage/ quantity).
EIA Report must be prepared by
- a registered Town Planning Consultant with Lembaga Perancang Bandar Malaysia (LPBM) or;
- a registered member with Malaysia Association of Social Impact Assessment (MSIA).
Jabatan Perancangan Bandar dan Desa (PLANMalaysia@Selangor) is responsible in reviewing and approving a SIA report and it may seek input from relevant government agencies, organisations, and experts to review the report.
